Information you should know about Smoky Mountain Design and the Website Development process:
A: Now that you have decided that you want Smoky Mountain Design to design and create your
website or project, the next step is to meet with us.
Q: What will happen at our initial consultation with Smoky Mountain Design?
We will inform you of all the services that we have to offer and how they can be implimented into your site.
We will assist you in gathering all of the necessary content for your website or project to start development and
explain what the process involves.
Q: How long will it take Smoky Mountain Design to complete my website?
A: Depending on the size of your website, if you do not require a e-commerce solution, and if Smoky Mountain Design has all of the proper content provided by you to complete every page of the site, development should take no more than one month.
Q: What content do I need to provide to Smoky Mountain Design in order to build my website?
A: Depending on how many pages your website has, we will need the following: logos, company colors,
marketing information, "about us" informational text and company "mission statements", pictures of business/products, a list and description of all products/services provided by your company, (if your site includes a e-commerce solution) and contact information.
These are the basic things that we will absolutely need to get started. Without them, the development process
will take much longer.
Note: logos, pictures, photos etc. need to be in a useable digital format, i.e. (.gif, .jpg, .jpeg, etc.) or there may
be additional fees and additional time required to create your website.
Q: What is the proper content needed by Smoky Mountain Design?
A:
Proper content is very important for the development of your website or project. It is critical that we have all of
the content we need to start development and complete your website or project within a month.
Ideal proper content would consist of digital images on disk, (in jpeg, gif, png, jpg format), text copy (your "about
us", "company mission statement", or any other text information) on disk, (preferably in Word format).
If this is not possible, then clear photos or brochures may be used for us to scan and optimize. If digital content is
not received, additional fees may be included to cover the expense of content preparation.
Q: Who will actually be involved in the development and creation of my website?
A: I will be the only one (with the possibility of an assistant gathering needed information for your project) working
on your site and will ensure from start to finish that it is the best quality website available to enhance your
company or personal website presence on the internet!
Q: When will you be contacting me to inform me of the progress on my website design?
A: After your first initial meeting, we will return with all the content gathered from you for the web development. All of
this content is then reviewed by us and then, we will either call you for more information, clairify something that
we have a question on or begin to develop a plan of action.
Together, with all of the information and content that you have provided to us, we will then formulate the best
strategy for the development of your website. Within one to two weeks you should expect a call from us to
overview the development of your web design project.
Assuming that we have all the required content for your web design, your home page will be developed and
launched to our preview page for you to view and approve (or disapprove). This "preview" process will happen
as often as needed.
~ The Web Design Preview Process ~
Web development begins after all web content is received by Smoky Mountain Design. A home page is developed and launched to our preview website for your preview.
During this second
preview you will be able to discuss the changes you want with your website. An example would be that you want
this text above that picture, or you want this picture moved from here to there, or to change this color, and so on.
We will listen, make some suggestions from a web designer's view point and as always, you (our valued client),
will make the final decision on any aspect of the development and design of your website or project.
We will then
make the appropriate changes to your web project specifications.
Again, after these changes have been made,
we will contact you within a week to let you know that they have been made and receive your feedback on the progress. During this third preview the web design should be nearly complete. Any other small changes that need to be made will be done here.
After these last changes have been made, we will contact you again for a final preview. We will allow you to
preview your site as often as is deemed neccessary.
Your contact information and email will then be set up and
upon your approval, your website will be launched to the Internet under your own domain name.

Q: Will I be able to view my website as it is being developed by Smoky Mountain Design?
A: Yes. Your website will be available anytime you request to view it throughout the developmental stages.
You will receive a "preview address" from us to view your website as it is being developed. This way you will be able to make change requests during the developmental process.
Q: How long will it take for my website to show up in the search engines?
A: When we submit your website to the search engines, keep in mind that there are hundreds of thousands of
submissions being sent every day from around the world. It could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months for your site to be "indexed" by the search engines.
Note: Search engines will list your website when they arrive at your site and review it.
Q: How do I get a high ranking from the search engines?
A: The following are among the several things that Smoky Mountain Design can do to optimize and
increase your chances of higher search engine ranking
Q: Search Engine Marketing?
A: Search engines are the "yellow pages" of the internet. We will program the proper meta tags and keywords to
optimize your search engine rankings. When the search engines "spider" or "crawl" (search through) your website, they will "index" your site and then your target audience can find you!
There are hundreds of search engine sites on the World Wide Web.
It is vital that your
website acquire and maintain its status in ranking on top search engines around the world.
Client keywords, site text, meta-tags, and page titles all contribute to the search engine systems. Smoky
Mountain Design has an effective process to address all these areas and more.

Do you have a question that is not answered here?
Email us with your question or comment and we'll send you a answer or response right away!
Upon approval of your website's home page, the rest of the website goes into development. Expect another call
from us within another week to two weeks to view the progress on the rest of your website.
You will receive a "preview address" to view your web project in progress. The first preview is for you to approve your website's home page look and feel.
Most important is to include your company name and "keyword phrases" in the title tag of your website.
We will make sure the meta tags and keywords that are in your website are highly applicable to the content within your site. The actual text on each page is extremely important to the "search engines" seeing, reading, and indexing your website
.
